Olives, and Wine, and Food! Best Day Ever.

Happy travelers! Remember way back when I started writing about our trip? I mentioned I had been at a conference that turned out to be really good for the trip? Well, one of those reasons was Monday. I should say that prior to going to Spain, I told pretty much anyone who would listen that I was going to Spain. I recommend in the future you do the same as well. Don't worry about feeling like you are bragging. You never know who has traveled to the same destination and will have a suggestion that turns out to be one of the best days of your trip. At the conference I met Kathleen, who told me about Roger with A Question of Taste . She said she and a friend had the most wonderful tour with him several years ago. She spoke very highly of the experience and said she would e-mail him and me and maybe we could work something out. Even with the short notice, we were able to arrange for a day visiting an olive mill, a winery (with lunch at the winery), and a visit to Rond...

Sunday in Sevilla

Well rested and ready for another day in Spain! On Sunday, I slept in until 10 a.m. What a treat! We didn't really have any plans. This was one of those days where everyone kind of did their own thing. Once David and I were up and had eaten our cornflakes, we headed to the center of town to tour the Alcazar . Like many things we saw in Spain, this once belonged to the Moors as a fort. Now it is a royal palace, and Spanish royals still stay here when they are in Sevilla. A few things I noticed. First of all, it is large and beautiful (real descriptive, I know).. You could spend a day there and still not see all the gardens. We had a map and I still occasionally was not sure where I was. Second thing, large tour groups are sort of annoying. They make it difficult to move around. Grrr. David and a pot. Lovely, no? We did the audio tour. I love audio tours.    What's that you say? You like my shoes? I really think you get so much more out of i...

Welcome to Sevilla!

A pretty picture to start the blog. Ah, Sevilla! We made it, bright and early on what day...oh yes, Saturday. On vacation all days tend to blur together. Spending the night on a bus doesn't really help with that. As I said, we arrived in Sevilla at 5 a.m. at a bus station, so I can't say my first impressions were anything memorable. It was very dark. A little chilly. We were outside and the restroom was very sketchy. As we were trying to get ourselves situated and refreshed, Lea realized she had left her iPad on the bus, which had just recently pulled away. Well, crap. Fortunately, despite the somewhat deserted nature of the bus station, there was a security guard around who informed Lea that the bus would go to the next station in Sevilla. Lea, Amit, and Alan grabbed a taxi and off they went to rescue the missing iPad! The rest of us hung out at the bus station for about an hour. What did we do? Gosh...I don't remember. Stared into the darkness? Wondered why ap...
