A Little Kntting

This is one of two hat and mitten sets I am knitting for a former co-worker. I have the green hat almost done., and a larger pair of red mittens as well.

The mittens are tiny and have an absolutely useless thumb. I'm not sure why I even included the thumb, but overall I seem to be challenged when it comes to knitting children's mittens. The mittens I knit for my sister looked fine. Why do all the children's mittens I knit look so goofy?

I am now registered for three triathlons: the LifeTime Fitness Indoor Triathlon, April 18; the Winona Trinona on June 13; and the St. Paul Triathlon on August 22. I've got a bit of a cold that is slowing down my training, but I'm not too worried...yet.

In the end, I couldn't resist the pull of thousands of suited Republicans in St. Paul and D and I headed downtown last night to check things out. Actually, that's a lie. What compelled me down there was my support of St. Paul business. The Pioneer Press reported yesterday on how dismal business was for some of the restaurants and shops around the convention. I figured, "Well, if the Republicans won't eat there, I WILL!" After work we headed to Cosetta's . As you can see...definite lack of Republicans. They were all outside on the street. I Need a New Word for "Perfect"

I just spent what can only be described as quite possibly one of the most perfect weekends of my life, thus far. I'm racking my brain trying to think of a weekend that has felt more "right" and I just can't. I think this was one of those rare life moments where everything comes together to create contentment. A perfect blend of good food, friendly strangers, physical and mental activity, and a person to travel with that makes you happy. David and I spent the weekend in Lanesboro, MN and thereabouts. We loaded up our bikes, and in my case, way too much other stuff and headed out of town. How is it that I can pack so light for a 10 day trip to Ireland, but when I head 2 hours south, I pack as though I am leaving home for an indefinite period of time?
