Stitch-n-Pitch

My mom and I went to the Minnesota Twins Stitch-n-Pitch Sunday afternoon.

She stitched...And I kept track of pitches.
When it came right down to it, I wanted to watch the game and fill out my scorecard. Scott Baker pitched 5 perfect innings for the Twins...and 3 more nearly perfect ones. He only gave up two hits...one of which happened to be a homerun. It's too bad the Twins offense wasn't able to back him up and score some runs so Baker could get a win. Sigh.

For people who aren't up on their baseball lingo, "perfect" means he gave up no hits. He retired those Ranger batters in "1,2,3" fashion! Here's a close-up of the plays.

You can see in the 6th and 7th innings where he stumbled a bit.

In other news, there was a proposal at the top of the 5th.

I did knit a little on my Gloria Cowl before the game started, but I don't have any pictures to show.

After the game, I headed to my mom's where there was a big family gathering, with 13 of my nieces and nephews present. They all swam around in this:

Gross, huh? I'm sure at the beginning of the day it was much cleaner.

It actually was cleaner much earlier. It seems some little girls decided to make some mud puddles by the slide and pool and then clean off in the pool. Oh well kids will be kids.

Well, after thinking about starting a blog for several years now, I've finally done it. Bear with me as I get the hang of it. This will mostly be a knitting blog...which I guess means I'll need to knit a lot. No problem there. Why the name, "Knitting in Transit"? Because "Knitting on the Bus" was taken. Report from the RNC

In the end, I couldn't resist the pull of thousands of suited Republicans in St. Paul and D and I headed downtown last night to check things out. Actually, that's a lie. What compelled me down there was my support of St. Paul business. The Pioneer Press reported yesterday on how dismal business was for some of the restaurants and shops around the convention. I figured, "Well, if the Republicans won't eat there, I WILL!" After work we headed to Cosetta's . As you can see...definite lack of Republicans. They were all outside on the street. I have to say, in my Ravelry t-shirt and Chacos, I felt a little out of place. This is as close as we could get to the Excel Energy Center. It looks like the city is on lockdown. While we were just standing around, Sean Hannity passed right by us. I've never watched a day of Fox News in my life, so I would not have known this if someone nearby had not pointed him out. Anti-Valentine's Day

I'm not wild about Valentine's Day. Why designate one day of the year to show people you love them? Why not just do that everyday? D and I have never really done anything special for Valentine's Day. I can't even remember if we saw each other last year on Valentine's Day! This year, I want to do have an Anti-Valentine's Day. I want to spend the day with D, but do things that are the opposite of what you might do on Valentine's Day. So far, the only thing I have come up with is watching a horror movie. Since neither of us like horror movies, we probably won't do that, but I am looking for things in that spirit. Please help me. Leave any ideas you might have in comments. If you leave an idea and we do that, you'll get a special treat. Probably chocolate. Or Gummy Bears if you prefer that sort of thing.
