Ribby Cardi Continued

Last night, a small miracle occurred in my apartment. In between doing two loads of laundry, cleaning the bathroom, washing the dishes, and reading a few chapters about the life of Barack Obama, I managed to sew on half of the zipper for my Ribby Cardi! What Ribby Cardi you ask? Why, the one I finished a year ago. The one I intended to wear to a Super Bowl party LAST YEAR, but bought the wrong kind of zipper. The one that has been sitting neglected over the back of my green chair for a year now. THAT Ribby Cardi.

I am amazed at how much I can get done in a small amount of time when I really put my mind to it and am not totally exhausted. I also told myself last night that I would not begin anything new until I had sewed the zipper on that sweater. Hopefully I'll get the other half done tonight!

I am still looking for ideas for my Anti-Valentine's Day. I like all the ideas so far...well, maybe not the ones that involve babysitting. I really like Meema's idea to give compost, and if either of us lived in a house and might actually use the compost, I would be all over that! I'll have to think of a way to adapt it for apartment living (I've already ruled out a worm composter. When I was a hall director, one of the houses I was in charge of had a worm composter and it caused many, many problems).

So, leave those Anti-Valentine's Day ideas everyone! I'm counting on you!

I have been thinking about this since your last post, and all I can come up with is cleaning - particularly cleaning a bathroom. ;)

Maybe instead of the typical valentine's idea doing something special for one other person - you make it "anti-valentine's" by doing something special for others. You could volunteer or do something charitable together that day.

In the end, I couldn't resist the pull of thousands of suited Republicans in St. Paul and D and I headed downtown last night to check things out. Actually, that's a lie. What compelled me down there was my support of St. Paul business. The Pioneer Press reported yesterday on how dismal business was for some of the restaurants and shops around the convention. I figured, "Well, if the Republicans won't eat there, I WILL!" After work we headed to Cosetta's . As you can see...definite lack of Republicans. They were all outside on the street. I have to say, in my Ravelry t-shirt and Chacos, I felt a little out of place. This is as close as we could get to the Excel Energy Center. It looks like the city is on lockdown. I have entered the blogosphere!

Well, after thinking about starting a blog for several years now, I've finally done it. Bear with me as I get the hang of it. This will mostly be a knitting blog...which I guess means I'll need to knit a lot. No problem there. Why the name, "Knitting in Transit"? Because "Knitting on the Bus" was taken. I'm sure this is only being read by family and friends, and you all know I don't own a car and get around to and fro on the bus. Where I do a lot of knitting. Expect that I may also regale you with my tales of riding the bus. Well, I can't very well have a knitting blog without a picture of something I knit, so here you go. My latest FO...Dad's Sweater. Anti-Valentine's Day

I'm not wild about Valentine's Day. Why designate one day of the year to show people you love them? Why not just do that everyday? D and I have never really done anything special for Valentine's Day. I can't even remember if we saw each other last year on Valentine's Day! This year, I want to do have an Anti-Valentine's Day. I want to spend the day with D, but do things that are the opposite of what you might do on Valentine's Day. So far, the only thing I have come up with is watching a horror movie. Since neither of us like horror movies, we probably won't do that, but I am looking for things in that spirit. Please help me. Leave any ideas you might have in comments. If you leave an idea and we do that, you'll get a special treat. Probably chocolate. Or Gummy Bears if you prefer that sort of thing.
