Baby, It's Cold Outside...

...and Happy New Year!

I really bundled up this morning to stay warm at the bus stop. What really warmed me up though was the phone call from my nephew, Nathan at 6:55 a.m. Okay, it was really Nathan's mom calling and prompting him, "Say hi...say hi...say hi". He's 17 months or so. I did hear some random babbling, which was very cute and just melted my heart. Awwwww!

I'm not planning on making any New Year's Resolutions. Sure, I'll try to exercise more, eat better, and be more fiscally responsible. But, I try to do those everyday. Usually with little success.

Instead, I thought I'd reflect on 2007 and share some of my favorite moments and things from the year. 2007 was a big year for me. Some big life changes that started in 2006 continued in 2007, all resulting in a much happier Michelle. My knitting also really took off this year. So, without further ado...here are some of my favorite things, discoveries, moments, etc. of 2007.

Favorite New Breakfast Item (well, new to me anyway): Bruegger's Cheese, Egg, and Sausage Bagel Breakfast sandwich. Oh so yummy. There is just something about this that is so satisfying. Perhaps it's the 340 calories of fat.

Proudest Knitting Moment: Finishing my dad's sweater, of course.

Favorite Movie: Juno. If you live in the Twin Cities, you probably are tired of hearing about Diablo Cody and the movie Juno. I was too. Then I saw the movie. It really is great. And I love it when Juno's dad tells her that to be happy with someone for the rest of your life, you need to find that one person who thinks the sun shines out your [bum] every day, no matter what. My favorite line of the movie.

Thing I Started Doing in 2007 I Never Thought I'd Do: Playing video games

The Other Thing I Started Doing in 2007 I Never Thought I'd Do: Facebook

The Thing I Started Doing in 2007 I Always Wanted To Do: Started my blog. Yay! And participated in Sockapalooza.

Favorite Web Site: Why, Ravelry of course!

Favorite Restaurant: Well, I love to eat out. I'm sure there are many places I could pick, but I'm going to go with Bona, a Vietnamese Restaurant in Stadium Village, on the U of M campus. I'm also going to say The Happy Gnome, although I've only ever eaten in the bar.

Favorite Bar: Hmmm...I think I'll go with the Chatterbox Cafe in Highland Park. I can walk there from my apartment, they have board games you can play, video games, and best of all...Trivia! I love it. Oh yeah...they have good beer too.

Most Unusual Date: Segway tour of Minneapolis Riverfront. So much fun! Everyone should do this!

Most Valuable Skill Learned: How to fill out the scorecard at a baseball game.

Best Vacation: Chicago and Indiana in July. I visited my sister and her family in Indiana, my brother and his family in Chicago, as well as my friend Jenn in Chicago. We went to a taping of Wait Wait Don't Tell Me...The NPR News Quiz in Millenium Park, and visited the Bean.

Well...that's it for now. Maybe I'll add a few more things later.

In my knitting news, I worked on the Friday Harbor Sock yesterday. It looks good so far!

I'm so excited that you mentioned me in your blog! I started one too -- I didn't feel like copying Christmas letters this year (cards are going out slowly). (www.jennjersays.blogspot.com)
