Hmmmm

Well, I'm a little worried about the Synesthesia socks. They seem a bit large and loose. I finished up the heel last night, and I just don't know. They fit, but they are loose. Very loose.

I just tried them on again and came to a sad conclusion. I think I need to start over. The heel is very, very large (not just in height, but width as well). Too big for me. In the photo above, it looks like monster-heel...taking over the sock.

I think these would be better on a size 0 needle (the pattern calls for size 2...I am using size 1). I don't have size 0. At least not two circs...I might have them in bamboo DPNs. Part of what I liked about this pattern though was it was so easy. They were a perfect bus project, and using two circs is the best way to do socks on the bus, IMHO. If I use DPNs, I worry about them falling off the needle and I can't shove them in my bag as easily.

Anyone reading this have big feet, or know someone with big feet that might enjoy some lovely, handknit socks? Or maybe a pregnant woman with swollen ankles?

I had a long weekend, and it was nice to have a little break. What did I do with all my time? Well, other than knitting the monster-heel socks, I spent some quality time organizing my kitchen. Zoey checks things out before I get started.

I also spent some time with family. Gretchen, Nathan, and I all played in the snow.

Darn it. Well, at least when I this pattern, I can be very careful about gauge and size. I have rather awkward feet (skinny ankles but 8 inch circumference) so I'll play around with the pattern a bit. I want to knit it with oceanwindknits splash, but I don't have the money yet for the yarn.

Well, after thinking about starting a blog for several years now, I've finally done it. Bear with me as I get the hang of it. This will mostly be a knitting blog...which I guess means I'll need to knit a lot. No problem there. Why the name, "Knitting in Transit"? Because "Knitting on the Bus" was taken. In the end, I couldn't resist the pull of thousands of suited Republicans in St. Paul and D and I headed downtown last night to check things out. Actually, that's a lie. What compelled me down there was my support of St. Paul business. The Pioneer Press reported yesterday on how dismal business was for some of the restaurants and shops around the convention. I figured, "Well, if the Republicans won't eat there, I WILL!" After work we headed to Cosetta's . As you can see...definite lack of Republicans. They were all outside on the street. I have to say, in my Ravelry t-shirt and Chacos, I felt a little out of place. This is as close as we could get to the Excel Energy Center. It looks like the city is on lockdown. While we were just standing around, Sean Hannity passed right by us. I've never watched a day of Fox News in my life, so I would not have known this if someone nearby had not pointed him out. Anti-Valentine's Day

I'm not wild about Valentine's Day. Why designate one day of the year to show people you love them? Why not just do that everyday? D and I have never really done anything special for Valentine's Day. I can't even remember if we saw each other last year on Valentine's Day! This year, I want to do have an Anti-Valentine's Day. I want to spend the day with D, but do things that are the opposite of what you might do on Valentine's Day. So far, the only thing I have come up with is watching a horror movie. Since neither of us like horror movies, we probably won't do that, but I am looking for things in that spirit. Please help me. Leave any ideas you might have in comments. If you leave an idea and we do that, you'll get a special treat. Probably chocolate. Or Gummy Bears if you prefer that sort of thing.
